Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one address, but to seem as being sent from a different, often with the objective to fraud the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, an exclusive record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world receive it. The record features all the email servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted destination. When, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. In the event that you use this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam which look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

When you host your domains in a cloud website hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in a section of its own where you'll be able to see which domains are already protected. For those that aren't, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection option and manage various things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your email addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, as well as to create a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains have our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, but it can be used when we manage the e-mails for your domain names and you are not using a different e-mail service provider. The newly created records will propagate within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an e-mail with your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function comes with all the Linux semi-dedicated packages, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you can use this service without difficulty for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a very intuitive interface, which means that you do not need to be tech-savvy to secure your email addresses. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As an additional option, we will also allow you to control your outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes further by allowing email messages to be sent only if the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain have to be handled on our end and not by another supplier. By doing so you'll get even superior control and there won't be a chance for anyone to forge your e-mail addresses for malicious activities.
